ISWS Hydrologist Selected Young Civil Engineer of the Year
Amy Russell, hydrologist at the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS), was selected as Young Civil Engineer of the Year in September by the Central Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
This award was established to recognize distinguished young civil engineers for demonstrated leadership potential, professional integrity, and significant engineering contributions.
The Central Illinois Section contains three branches: East Branch (Champaign-Urbana), West Branch (Springfield), and Illinois Valley Branch (Peoria).
Russell is beginning her second term as president of the ASCE Central Illinois East Branch. In this capacity, she focuses on meeting the technical and professional needs of members at the local level primarily by organizing monthly continuing-education seminars.
She has been employed at the ISWS since 1998.
