The new Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability (INRS) is offering a workshop on Feb. 2-3, 2009 at the I Hotel and Conference Center to showcase current projects and explore collaborations and new research opportunities on modeling in natural resources management.

The workshop, "Conceptual, Spatial, and Numerical Modeling for Decision Support in Natural Resource Management" will focus on three themes: model integration, spatial modeling and data collections management, and sustainability management and analysis. Six research projects will be presented for each theme, followed by a panel discussion on collaboration opportunities.

Scientists from the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS), the Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS), and the Illinois Natural History Survey (INHS) will provide presentations followed by panel discussions on a variety of research modeling projects. A few include:

The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, in the Technology Room of the I Hotel and Conference Center, and will conclude at 5:00 p.m. On Tuesday, Feb. 3, the workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at noon. The detailed program, including abstracts, is available at:
