Available Positions

Field Research Assistant (hourly up to 5 positions)

Field Research Assistants will work with Survey scientists to conduct statewide data collection on Illinois streams in support of the IEPA Intensive Basin Survey program.

Duties & Responsibilities: Collection and processing of hydrologic data. Duties may include: work with and/or supervise a 2-person crew, calibrate and deploy multi-parameter sondes, collect water quality samples, perform discharge measurements, download sonde data, and perform basic data processing. Assist with other field projects or office tasks as needed.

Education & Experience: Student or recent graduate in engineering or natural resources field preferred.

Qualifications: Applicant must be willing and able to: 1) work outside under a variety of field and environmental conditions; 2) travel regularly for 4 to 5 days at a time throughout Illinois with overnight hotel stays (at project expense); 3) show good organizational skills. Long work days are expected. A valid automobile driver’s license is required.
