The Office of Water Resources is the lead state agency for water resources planning, navigation, floodplain management, the National Flood Insurance Program, and interstate organizations on water resources. Interagency duties include the state water plan, drought response, flood emergency situation reports, and the comprehensive review of Illinois water use law.

The ISGS is a premier State Geological Survey serving the needs of Illinois with earth science information relevant to the State's environmental quality, economic vitality, and public safety. Some 200 scientists and technical support staff conduct basic and applied research in geology, compile geologic maps, and gather and manage the state's geological data to provide information to industry, governmental agencies and the public about the geology and mineral resources of Illinois.

Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning is a new organization that has combined the previously separate transportation and land-use planning agencies for northeastern Illinois into a single entity designed to protect natural resources and minimize traffic congestion as the seven-county region plans for the 21st Century and beyond.
Mahomet Aquifer Consortium

Mahomet Aquifer Consortium

The Mahomet Aquifer Consortium was formed to look toward developing an approach to better study and understand the Mahomet aquifer. The aquifer is a valuable resource and those with an interest in the aquifer, either because they use ground water from the aquifer or because they are interested in utilizing the aquifer in the future, came together to discuss ways to study it in a comprehensive manner.
