Imperial Valley Groundwater Monitoring

The Illinois State Water Survey, under contract to the Imperial Valley Water Authority (IVWA), has operated a network of groundwater observation wells in Mason and Tazewell Counties since 1994. The purpose of the groundwater observation well network is to collect long-term data to determine the impact of groundwater withdrawals during dry periods and the growing season, as well as to monitor the potential for groundwater flooding.

The map indicates the location of each of the wells monitored in the region (labeled MTOW). It also includes the location of the rain gauge network also funded by the IVWA (labeled R).
